From Our Farm to Your Table

Our mission is to create a welcoming destination where wellbeing, nourishment, and farming are deeply connected.
Through farm to table dining, regenerative growing practices, calm spaces and meaningful experiences outdoors, we invite people to slow down, reconnect with nature, and care for themselves in a way that also cares for the land. We believe healthy soil, nourishing food, fresh air, movement, and shared experiences are the foundation of a healthier, more grounded way of living.

Our HIStory

Westerton of Pitarrow was first farmed by the Gammie family in 1940, twenty years after the family first moved to the area to Cairnton Farm in 1920. It is now under the 4th generation of the family to farm in the area, comprising of 450 acres of arable land alongside a farm café, shop, campsite, events spaces and small herd of animals.
Five people, including two children, are standing and working near a patch of green crops beside a dirt track on a farm shop in Aberdeenshire, with barns and trees visible in the background under a blue sky.

The first step in our agritourism journey was the opening of the “Spud Hut” in 2017 which was a small shed at the farm road end selling our own tatties, carrots and eggs from a neighbouring farm. In 2018 we started our pumpkin patch, followed by farm tours, and in 2021 we opened our farm shop and refillery at Westerton. Farm to Table has been at the core of our business since we started – on a mission to get people reconnected with their food, eating local and supporting producers.

The opening of the shop allowed us to have face to face interactions with our customers to help tell that story – as the business has evolved, we have become a farm café which allows us to really deliver the Farm to Table concept. Serving up whole foods, nutritional dishes packed with flavour and goodness, using most of what we grow on farm in our menu – we can show our customers how easy it is to make small changes to support both their wellbeing and small businesses.

The Grafters!

Meet the team

We are very lucky to have an amazing team at Westerton. On the farm which is led by David we have Sandy, Ian and Rosie who between them have over 140 years of service to our family and farm. They were joined by Duncan until his recent retirement – Duncan had worked for our family for 65 years! Duncan and Sandy’s fathers both also worked for our family on the farm.

Our Agritourism Team

Our agritourism team is newer, but equally as committed to the business and our ambitions. Led by Ross (who runs our front of house, retail and events) and Natalia (our Head of Kitchen) – we have a team of over 15 lovely locals who help make our café welcoming and keep it running smoothly.

Christina is with us full time looking after our animals, animal experiences, providing in-house nutritional expertise and helping to delivery our Empowerability programme with Oakley ASN.

We also have the furry members of the team! Headed and herded by Tess the Collie, our 4 goats (Pumpkin, Socks, Shia and Meghan), 2 Alpacas (Ravi and Puntaa) 20 hens (they do all have names!) and friendly sheep who join us for most of the year from local farming neighbour Doug Mitchell! You can learn more about them all on our animals and farm experience page.
